Amazon Distribution
Center Retrofit

Project Overview
As the world’s largest logistics provider, Amazon depends on its distribution centers to keep the e-commerce engine moving. Each facility is a vital node in a global network that never stops.
In late August 2025, our customer, who designs and builds full-scale material-handling equipment including heavy-duty conveyors and low-friction chute systems, was contracted to retrofit and install more than 100 spiral chutes at an Amazon facility in California. Their equipment, custom fit and designed package handling chutes, form the backbone of package movement between levels, ensuring efficiency, safety, and consistent throughput.
Midway through the project, our customer faced a serious problem: the job had fallen behind schedule, and their existing team didn’t have the manpower to finish the installation on time. With only weeks left before a hard deadline, operations were at risk of delay.
That’s when Aperture Group was called in.
The Challenge
Our costumer's demo and install phase had fallen behind schedule with an immovable three-week completion window.
The facility’s throughput, and by extension, package flow across Amazon’s broader e-commerce network was at risk.
The immediate need: a team of site-ready millwrights plus a
seasoned foreman to coordinate shifts, enforce safety standards,
and maintain quality assurance alongside our customer's project management team.
Every day of delay could create a cascading effect, impacting package flow, warehouse operations, and the broader e-commerce supply chain. Our customer needed a partner who could move quickly, deploy skilled craftsmen immediately, and coordinate seamlessly with on-site management.
The Solution
Within days of receiving the call, Aperture mobilized a specialized team of skilled millwrights and a seasoned site foreman to California.
The crew’s scope of work included:
- De-assembly and re-assembly of spiral chute systems.
- Mechanical alignment, hardware replacement and system calibration for each chute.
- Safety, quality, and efficiency checks performed in real time.
- Continuous coordination with our costumers
project management to maintain progress and compliance.
Working around the clock under tight conditions, the Aperture team integrated seamlessly with our costumers existing workforce, bringing structure, skill, and speed to a job that had been at risk of falling short.
100+ spiral chute retrofits
completed successfully.
Project delivered, on-time.
Aperture’s installation team deployed
to site within days of the call.

The Result
Despite joining mid-project, Aperture’s team completed the entire retrofit ahead of the original schedule. The project was turned over on time, with full operational readiness confirmed before the deadline.
This rapid-response effort not only rescued a critical installation but also reinforced Aperture’s reputation for reliability, precision, and composure in high-stakes industrial environments.
Customer Testimonial:
“We all truly appreciate Aperture's support and their ability to jump in and get this project completed by the deadline we committed to. The team delivered successfully. I’ve already told our field services team to keep this group in mind for future projects. Our team was extremely happy with how the project was managed.”
